Darlene ‘the Bean’ Fedyna ( founder of gymtasticsgymtools.com ), her husband and two daughters decided to take the adventure trip of a lifetime; visiting Kathmandu in Nepal and trekking the Himalaya mountains to Everest Base Camp. Gymtastics GymTools and Darlene’s non-profit organization ‘Gymtastics Play-it-Forward Projects‘ have reached many heights over the years helping children from Africa to Peru to her home country in Canada. But now Darlene can say she has taken Gymtastics Play-it-Froward Projects to a whole new height; ascending to over 18,000 feet as she and her family passed through Himalayan villages on their way to Everest Base Camp.
Nepal is definitely a country with children in need and Darlene has always believed that all children in our world can benefit and grow through sport and play. So she made sure her backpack was loaded with balls, skipping ropes and other fun activity items to distribute to all the children she would meet in the mountain villages throughout her journey. Taking the time to play with the children and seeing the smiles that she brought to their faces was definitely the highlight of her trip.
If you own or work at a gymnastics club and have been looking for a great like-minded organization to align with that helps children grow through sport and play, then you should check out what Gymtastics Play-it-Forward Projects has been doing. This summer Gymtastics Play-it-Forward Projects will be hosting a 4 day summer camp for 100 underprivileged children absolutely free using our Gymtastics GymTools Summer Camp Programs (to be launched to the public very soon). This is all possible because of generous sponsors, committed volunteers and caring people in our gymnastics community. We are so proud to be a part of this fantastic organization and continue to use our programs to make a difference in the lives of children who would normally not get this opportunity. Please go to playitforward.ca to see what is being done and perhaps support a very worthwhile cause. Thank you!
